Twins slugger Eddie Rosario quietly becoming MLB’s most underrated player

Twins slugger Eddie Rosario is quickly becoming one of MLB’s best hitters.

Though not yet a household name — mainly because of the small market he plays in — Rosario has been one of baseball’s most dangerous hitters this season. He hit three home runs Sunday, including a dramatic walkoff to help Minnesota defeat the Indians, 7-5.

It kind of sucked, Leggett said of last year. My rookie year, I want to come into the NFL and I want to play, but it didn’t happen like that last year. Hopefully, now I’m good to go. I feel great. I get a chance at it this year.

Leggett is part of a wide-open competition. The Jets’ top tight end from last year was Austin Seferian-Jenkins. He signed with the Jaguars in free agency. That left a tight-end room with Leggett, Eric Tomlinson, Neal Sterling, Clive Walford and Bucky Hodges. The Jets added Chris Herndon in the draft.

The Jets did not go out and sign any big-name tight end who would automatically be the starter. Instead, they felt good enough about the players on the roster to let them fight it out this summer.

The Lions used the 10th overall pick in the 2014 NFL draft on Ebron and he was a huge disappointment — especially considering that the 11th pick was Pro Bowl left tackle Taylor Lewan, the 12th pick was Pro Bowl wide receiver Odell Beckham and the 13th pick was Pro Bowl defensive tackle Aaron Donald. But there’s talent there, and Reich is hoping to get something out of that talent that Jim Caldwell never could.

Cody Latimer was heading down a wrong path, one that could have cost him his NFL career. As Giants general manager Dave Gettleman likes to say, there are those who play professional football and those who actually are professional football players. Latimer was getting paid to play, but he hardly prepared like a pro.

Nowadays, he is vying to be the Giants’ No. 3 wide receiver, and one look at him is all you need to believe it could happen. Despite their physical gifts, Odell Beckham Jr. and Sterling Shepard fail to reach 6-foot tall. The others trying to get into the mix — Roger Lewis, Russell Shepard — are also smallish targets, as is Hunter Sharp. Latimer is a 6-foot-2, 215-pounder who adds a different dimension as a size-speed athlete.

Cardinals rookie using his NFL money to pay off his sister’s student loans

As the 134th overall pick in the 2018 NFL draft, Cardinals running back Chase Edmonds got a $452,359 signing bonus. He already knows what he’ll do with $80,000 of that: Pay off his sister’s student loans.

Edmonds hatched a plan when he was 10 years old for how he was going to help out his family: First by getting a football scholarship, then by paying off his older sister Morgan’s schooling when he got his NFL contract.

Some rookies get their signing bonus checks and immediately buy jewelry or cars. That Edmonds had something else in mind shows that the Cardinals drafted a player of high character.

The dismissed defendants owned and operated the venue, but the law makes them responsible only if they have exclusive control of the site. The evidence introduced during the trial showed that Rams and the now-dismissed defendants had joint control of the Edward Jones Dome on game days.

This puts the Rams solely on the hook for Bush’s injury, which happened when he ran out of bounds and slipped on a ring of concrete surrounding the playing surface.

And it’s clear someone other than Bush was responsible for his injury. Although ACL tears have become commonplace in the NFL, that’s one of the risks a player assumes when suiting up and crossing the white lines. Once beyond the playing field, others have a responsibility for ensuring that reasonable risks are foreseen, and minimized.

Bush was the second player in two Sundays to slip on the concrete. The prior week, then-Browns quarterback Josh McCown hit the concrete and skidded into a wall, injuring his shoulder. Two weeks later, a blue rubberized cover had been placed on the concrete.

While evidence of what the law calls subsequent remedial measures usually isn’t admissible, since that would discourage defendants from acknowledging and fixing hazards. But Bush will be able to prove that it would have been easy to solve the problem, by for example putting a blue rubberized cover on the concrete.

That’s what the Browns, Jets, Bills and Cardinals need to do in 2018.

For a team to overcome high QB bust odds, it needs to know everything about itself and everything about the quarterback in question.

It’s getting harder to be patient and sit a quarterback given the demands on coaches and offenses to produce quick turnarounds. In more cases, the so-called rushing quarterbacks into action is the only option.

When your child is laying there in a situation like this, I was hoping and wishing i could switch positions with him.

Ryan Shazier made his first public appearance recently at Heinz Field, attending the Steelers’ game against the Patriots.

Vernon Shazier, who is an NFL chaplain, told WPXI that faith is helping the family through the crisis.

I laid my hands on the shoulder of the doctor and I prayed for him, he said.

During the past five seasons, Dozier leads all primary second basemen in home runs (131), walks (292) and XBH (283). Last season, Dozier hit 34 home runs and drove in 93 runs, all from the leadoff spot. With 144 defensive runs saved from 2013 to 2017, Simmons has 39 more than any other player. The 39-run gap between Simmons and second-place Nolan Arenado is one fewer than the gap from Arenado to 12th on the leaderboard. The only other player since 2010 with a streak of six straight seasons with at least 15 defensive runs saved is Jason Heyward. — ESPN Stats & Information

Only two players in the past two seasons have had a year where they had at least 35 homers, 100 runs, 100 RBIs and 40 doubles — Upton and Nolan Arenado. Upton is also one of six players going into 2018 with a streak of five straight 25-home run seasons. — Willis, ESPN Stats & Information

There’s one guy that’s supposed to be here that’s not here but hopefully is watching, and that’s Ryan, Roethlisberger said (via ESPN.com). Ryan, we love you, we’ve got you on our cleats, we’ve got you on our shirts. We’re loving you, buddy.

Todd Bowles feels Jets have three quarterbacks they can play with

The Jets moved into their second week of OTAs on Tuesday and first-round pick Sam Darnold got some time quarterbacking the first team during the practice.

Head coach Todd Bowles said after the session that “it is nothing to read into” because Darnold, Josh McCown and Teddy Bridgewater are all getting the same amount of reps as the team goes through the offseason program. He did add Darnold has already grown “more comfortable” and that Bridgewater is “progressing and getting better” in his early work.

While improving on Richardson’s 23-year record of 192-192-1 (including playoffs) Cheap Basketball Jerseys will be helpful, Adams was also encouraged by the fact Tepper seemed open to hearing their thoughts on the new anthem policy (which is frankly the kind of conversation Richardson would have never had interest in having).

“That was addressed. We talked about that,” Adams said. “It was an open conversation and that’s going to be an ongoing conversation all year long – with every team. And you know that. Everyone’s going to be all over that. . . .

“He let it be known that we have a voice. He understands that we have a voice. And he understands that he has a voice, too. And he would like to help us with that in different ways.”

The Panthers under Richardson were one of the least vocal teams in the league, with no kneelers and only one player (Julius Peppers) who stayed in the locker room for the anthem the week after President Donald Trump inflamed players with his SOB remarks.
