Texans bringing back Alfred Blue

The Texans didn’t draft any running backs this year, which may have helped pave the way for them to turn back to veteran Alfred Blue.

Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports that Blue is returning to the Texans on a one-year contract. Blue was a 2014 sixth-round pick and became a free agent when the league year opened in March.

Blue ran 71 times for 262 yards and a touchdown last year, his lowest workload in four NFL seasons. He’d run the ball at least 100 times in each of his first three years with the team.

Jalyn Holmes recorded just five career sacks for the Buckeyes. It’s hard to sack the quarterback when Nick Bosa, Sam Hubbard, Tyquan Lewis, Joey Bosa and Darron Lee (early in Holmes’ career) already have dibs. Then again, a player with Holmes’ size, arms and athletic potential should have bellied himself up to the trough a little more often in the last two years. Always be suspicious of these grab the backup from the big program picks, because two sacks a year in the Big Ten never translated to 10 per year in the NFL. Grade: C.

According to multiple reports, the 49ers have exercised the option ahead of the May 3 deadline to do so. The option can be rescinded before going into effect next year, but it is guaranteed against injury.

Injuries have been an issue for Armstead the last two years. He went on injured reserve last October with a hand injury and was on the same list in 2016 due to a shoulder problem. He missed 18 games over the two Cheap Authentic Baseball Jerseys seasons and had 31 tackles and four sacks when he was healthy enough to play.

The 49ers also have an option year on guard Laken Tomlinson‘s contract Basketball Jerseys. Tomlinson was a first-round pick of the Lions, but the 49ers assumed the option when they traded for him last August.

Tracy Walker, S, Louisiana: New Detroit coach Matt Patricia has become accustomed to operating with a deep, diverse group of safeties. Walker is a new option alongside Glover Quin and Tavon Wilson.
