Indiana had Irving on its board as the No. 1 target for George, league sources said.

The Pacers had a willingness to do a deal straight up, but Cleveland declined several times, league sources said.

There was another deal that would have sent Kevin Love to the Nuggets, Gary Harris to the Pacers, and George to the Cavs, but it ultimately fell apart because Cleveland didn’t want to send Indiana an unprotected draft pick, according to Woj.

After the three-team deal fell apart, the Pacers ultimately moved on and dealt George to the Thunder. A few weeks later, Irving made his demand for a trade after the NBA draft and the start of free agency.

It also preserves that all-important salary cap space for 2018, for whence the Lakers have dreams of Russell Westbrook and Paul George and, hell, maybe LeBron James or DeMarcus Cousins. Finding a good, young player who fits the growth arc for the current core — Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Julius Randle — without locking up 2018-19 cap space is perfect.

The only problem comes if Caldwell-Pope isn’t actually good. If the Lakers sputter again, they probably aren’t getting any of those big free agents. This time, L.A. really can’t afford a losing season. In that sense, the Lakers are betting a lot on KCP, Brook Lopez, and an infamous rookie point guard. Good luck!

The Hawks landed Dewayne Dedmon for $7 million next season, plus a player option Cheap Heat Jerseys year in 2018-19 at the same salary. If Dedmon can stop fouling so much, this is a sneaky good Dwight Howard replacement decision.

Jayson Tatum is tearing up the Summer League. Can it translate to the Cheap Hockey Jerseys Youth NBA? Ricky O’Donnell digs in.

James Harden, Rockets agree on biggest contract extension in NBA history

The Houston Rockets announced they have signed All-Star shooting guard James Harden to a four-year contract extension. It was the first-ever Designated Player Veteran Extension, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski and Bobby Marks, which will pay him a total of $228 million through the 2022-23 season.

Collison was originally drafted by the Seattle Supersonics with the No. 12 pick in the 2003 NBA Draft. He spent four years there before the franchise was forcefully moved from Seattle to Oklahoma City, but he still qualifies for “lifer” status, we think. The loose definition is a player who was drafted by a team and then plays 10 or more years exclusively with that franchise. Kobe Bryant did it most notably, retiring in 2016 after his 20th season with the Los Angeles Lakers.

For Collison, who is 36, it’s about time. His production and role has been declining every season, and his biggest addition to the Thunder locker room is a veteran voice. Last year, he only played 128 minutes for the entire year, only the second time he didn’t record at least 1,000. The other time was the season before.

However, Collison’s commitment to a single franchise is incredible. Here are the other active lifers in the league right now and what season they’re entering with their respective team.

Johnson figures to have less of an on-court role, but he’s a nice fit Cheap Gaa Jerseys for their young frontcourt. One of the league’s great vets, Johnson Cheap Goalie Jerseys has struggled with ankle injuries throughout his career. But he’s a gamer. He’ll give you what he has without complaint, even if he doesn’t have as much to give as he once did.

Russell has a home in Brooklyn, and they value him highly.

Nobody says they shouldn’t, especially for the price for which he was acquired — Brook Lopez on the final year of his deal, and a late first-round draft pick that turned into Kyle Kuzma, who’s promising but is already about to turn 22.

However, in two years with the Lakers, Russell did not consistently make his teammates better. The team was about five points better with him off the floor during his rookie year. Last year, it was around three. There will always be some noise in the numbers with teams that are as bad as Los Angeles has been for two years. But it vibes with the eye test and what we know about Russell, too.

The architect of that 60-win team was Danny Ferry. He inherited Horford and Teague, but acquired Korver for cash, signed Millsap in free agency, and plucked Carroll out of the fringes of the NBA. He also hired Mike Budenholzer, the long-time Gregg Popovich acolyte, as head coach. Bud installed a beautiful ball movement offense that paired perfectly with a dogged defense to make the Hawks great.

Ferry dove into some hot water with the Luol Deng scouting report scandal and actually spent the entire dream season away from the team. He resigned at the end of the season, turning the reins over to Budenholzer and a promoted Wes Wilcox. That front office re-signed Millsap but watched Carroll walk — there Cheap NFL Jerseys Paypal was no other way, as Toronto ponied up more cash than the Hawks could handle.

The offense sunk from No. 6 in the league to No. 22 despite healthy Cheap Authentic NBA Jerseys seasons for everyone in Atlanta. The Hawks fell to 48 wins, and got swept by the Cavaliers again, and faced the sure end of their run.

Aaron Judge tied Joe DiMaggio’s rookie record

Listen, we know it’s tough to catch up on everything happening in the baseball world each morning. There are all kinds of stories, rumors, game coverage, and Vines of dudes getting hit in the beans every day. Trying to find all of it while on your way to work or sitting at your desk just isn’t easy. It’s OK, though. We’re going to do the heavy lifting for you each morning and find the things you need to see from within the SB Nation baseball network, as well as from elsewhere. Please hold your applause until the end, or at least until after you subscribe to the newsletter.

Over the course of a season, we experience a barrage of amazing baseball things. Enormous home runs, fabulous plays in the field, great starting pitching performances, brilliant relief appearances. And looking back over the first half of the 2017 season, it’s hard to put everything we’ve seen into context. But with Aaron Judge, who at this point is pretty much a human home run machine, it’s actually pretty easy to put his accomplishments into context.

In just 81 games, Judge has tied a rookie record that was set by one of the Yankees’ most sacred alumni: Joltin’ Joe DiMaggio. Judge hit his 29th home run in Wednesday’s Yankees-Blue Jays game, the same amount that DiMaggio hit in his rookie season in 1936. The big difference? DiMaggio hit 29 home runs in 138 games. Judge’s came in 81 games, so he’s going to smash that record to smithereens by the end of this season.

Things didn’t work out perfectly for either side this time, but that happens. If only Cheap Youth Baseball Jerseys Pineda could have departed healthy off of a successful season instead of being forced to convince Extremely Cheap Jerseys teams that he’s still got it during the offseason.

he’s only 20 years old and could use some support at the position while he acclimates to the show.

Boston’s hunt for a third baseman has been well documented, and was actually getting a little bit sad as one option after another was taken away from them. The team finally resorted to calling up exciting prospect Rafael Devers to fill the position after only nine games spent in AAA ball.

While Devers more than acquitted himself in the minors, flying through the system and leaving great results behind at each level, he’s only 20 years old and could use some support at the position while he acclimates to the show.

The Sox reportedly hoped to platoon Devers in his first stretch in the majors, and right now his platoon is — uh — Deven Marrero. So things could be better with that plan, is what I’m saying.

Nu?ez wouldn’t be a major upgrade at third if he was taking over completely. He’s a reasonable addition to make if the Sox don’t want to send Devers back down, yet also don’t have enough in the kitty to land the best options for that side of the field on the market right now. With this, everybody wins.

It’s Bour that’s the questionable pick, given the fact that he’s nowhere near one of the biggest power threats at his own position, let alone in the league. It feels like he was picked to give the hometown Miami fans another person to root for, which — as our Travis Sarandos noted on Twitter — is a little ridiculous considering Marlins fans already have a dinger-hitting god to represent them in the contest.

But in a year where the Brewers may end up going into the All-Star break in MLB Jerseys Wholesale first place, it would be nice to see them get a little more recognition than having a relief pitcher as their Miami Dolphins Cheap Jerseys only representative during the All-Star festivities.

Eric Thames says he never got a call for the Home Run Derby

Eric Thames provided some fireworks for the Brewers offense on the 4th of July, hitting his 22nd and 23rd home runs of the season in a 6-2 win.

“They had an off day yesterday, the third in a week or so after going 20 games without a break. Kipnis spent the last one with Lonnie Chisenhall — his best friend on the team and a guy he calls, with or without baseball, a friend for life — in Chisenhall’s backyard with his two kids. “I’m Uncle Jason,” he says while noshing on a corndog, which would be unremarkable except he’s eating it with a fork and knife despite the dish’s built-in utensil.”

It’s pure insanity, flagrantly shunning the stick that is literally cooked into the product and is working hard to make it your snacking experience as easy and utensil-free as possible. That stick has a job, which was just carelessly outsourced to a fork and a knife who probably don’t need the extra work right now. The stick economy is rough — popsicles, corndogs, kebobs, and that’s pretty much it — and if people just go around eating corndogs with forks and knives without a care in the world how will sticks support their families?

If there were a lot of messy toppings, simply angle the corndog in a manner where the toppings don’t slide off. Nothing in the fictitious Articles of Eating Corndogs Properly says that you absolutely must eat a corndog in a perfectly vertical position. This isn’t rocket science, just Wholesale NFL Jerseys Cheap tilt that thing horizontally and have a lot of napkins handy for backup. Anything Raiders Cheap Jerseys is better than bringing utensils into the equation.

Chrissy Teigen wants to own a team, so let’s figure out which one she should buy

After Derek Jeter reportedly sealed the deal to be a part-owner of the Miami Marlins on Friday, many people probably thought “hey that seems cool, I could definitely run a baseball team.” Chrissy Teigen, because she usually doesn’t think things without tweeting them (in a good way!), tweeted that she too would like to own a team.

A piece to help them win now and win later. Nightengale writes that the Cardinals aren’t really sure what they want to do at the deadline:

The St. Louis Cardinals, just like the Pirates, don’t necessarily want to surrender their playoff hopes. But they’re realistic. They are caught in no-man’s land. They’re really not in the NL Central race, but not out of it, either, simply loitering.

That means it’s not especially likely that they would want to deal Lynn — a pending free agent with a strong 3.40 ERA in his return from Tommy John surgery — for prospects and prospects alone. Every team can use more prospects, but I’m not sure if the Cardinals are interested in taking that kind of short-term hit.

Consider that the Cardinals have Luke Weaver currently demolishing Triple-A, with Marco Gonzales also doing well. And if they get in a real pickle, they can also move Tyler Lyons, overqualified long reliever, back to the rotation. The Cardinals have rotation depth, just like they always do.

The National League before this season, though, wasn’t so hard to predict. Slap the Dodgers in first in the NL West, the Cubs in first in the Central, and the Nationals Youth NFL Cheap Jerseys in USA Cheap Jerseys first in the East, and figure out the other dozen teams later. While I’m sure there have been three clear divisional favorites in a league before, the lack of ambiguity in these divisions seemed unusual.

On Deion Sanders’ 50th birthday, let’s remember his epic 1992 World Series

Deion Sanders’ Hall of Fame NFL career will always overshadow his baseball contributions, but let’s not forget that for a week in 1992 he dominated the diamond under the sport’s brightest spotlight.

Sanders was the biggest star on either team in that six-game series between the Braves and Blue Jays, though his contributions are often overlooked because his team — the Braves — lost the series (one of Atlanta’s four World Series losses during the ’90s; sorry, Braves fans). But his performance during the series — at the plate, on the base paths and in left field — was one to behold. Let’s look back:

It’s the first complete game from a 40-year-old or older in baseball since 2015. Colon and former Braves teammate R.A. Dickey each threw complete games during the 2015 campaign.

Good for Colon, who was seriously considering retirement midway through the season for the Twins. He hasn’t been great for Minnesota, as he’s pitched to a 5.11 FIP while in the Twin Cities, matching what he did with the Braves. He’s benefitted from a much better Twins defense, so his ERA is roughly four runs lower than that of Atlanta. Aren’t stats fun?

Hopefully Colon can continue to pitch to this level the rest of the season. He’s been a joy to watch these last four years — and has left the controversies of his PED use in the past. He should be able to finish his career on his terms.

In his fifth year in the majors, Nolan Arenado is finally getting Kids Cheap Jerseys China some national recognition. Maybe that’s partly because Arenado was part of Team USA in this Make Your Own Cheap Jerseys year’s World Baseball Classic (though, to be fair, he was abysmal during the tourney).

Arenado’s numbers this season are staggering: 129 OPS+, 24 home runs, 95 RBI (which leads the National League).

Former Mets slugger Ike Davis strikes out side in debut as full-time pitcher

Long before Ike Davis become a short-lived power-hitting sensation for the Mets, he was an untouchable high school pitcher. At age 30, Davis is back on the mound full-time in an attempt to resurrect his major league career.

Davis struck out all three batters he faced in his pitching debut for the Dodgers’ Arizona Rookie League affiliate on Sunday. According to FanGraphs, he worked at around 88-92 mph in his inning against hitters about a decade younger than him.

“I’m still angry,” Hernandez said (via MLB.com). “I’m trying to calm myself down, trying to smile to hide what I feel inside. I’m just hoping to get healthy and try to help, try to help this team go to the promised land.”

Hernandez says he has received an injection of protein-rich plasma in his sore right shoulder to calm his bursitis and is awaiting clearance to begin rehabbing and eventually throwing. Doctors have projected a three- to four-week absence, but he said he’s hopeful he can beat that timeline.

“They say 3-4 weeks, but I think I can be back earlier,” he said. “I just have to be careful not to rush it, because I feel fine. I felt fine before the last start in Texas. The day I pitched in Texas [on July 31], I felt good. The next day, I felt a little something in my shoulder, but MLB Jerseys Wholesale I was fine before that.”

Hernandez, an uncharacteristic 5-4 with an 4.28 ERA in 13 starts this season, is on the DL for only the fifth time in his career. But this is his third DL stint in the past two seasons, as New Nike NFL Jerseys shoulder bursitis landed him on the DL earlier this season, too.

The umpires stood by their decision, but weren’t willing to accept responsibility.

“This whole thing was Tom Lasorda’s fault,” umpire Bob Davidson said, according to The Associated Press. “He instigated the crowd, waving his arms. He has himself to blame, absolutely. He knows he’s to blame.”

“How did I instigate it? I was talking to Jim Quick. All I was asking was why he threw my players out,” Lasorda said. “Who made them (the fans) throw the balls the first time? What did I do? If I don’t come out and ask why my players are being thrown out, what kind of a manager am I? That’s all I did. I tell you, that is a real crime, for those guys to try to put that blame on me.”

Regardless of where the blame fell, it was the first MLB forfeit since Disco Demolition Night in 1979 — and the last one to date. Though the forfeit prevented the Dodgers from inching closer to a postseason berth, they ended up winning the division anyway — then were swept by the Reds in the NLDS.

Two years later, a similar ball-tossing incident occurred on opening day in Milwaukee. The dreaded F-word was threatened, but thankfully for the Brewers, order was restored before baseball’s nuclear option was needed.

After the Milwaukee fiasco, MLB declared that giveaways of baseballs or other throwable objects must occur after a game as fans leave the stadium.

Based on the information available, thanks to Pavlidis and others like Tom Brady Cheap Jerseys him, we’re able to compare pitches as they are called by umpires versus what the radar tells us. That includes an estimate on how accurate the average umpire is behind the plate.

“Both (radar and the umpire) would probably be about 90 percent,” he said. “An automated system would not have the big misses but would actually miss more on the margins, according Very Cheap Jerseys to some unpublished research I’ve heard about. The bigger difference would be the zone wouldn’t expand and contract during at-bats.”
